Black & White Handprinted Silk Decor Cushion Cover

  • description

Enjoy this unique, fine silk handprinted pillow/cushion cover that is embellished with beautiful hand-embroidered mirrors, which will add an exotic element to your home decor.

The black-on-white handprint used here is a unique design within the traditional Ajrakh print repository. Ajrakh is a colourful block printing tradition practised in the stretch between Kutch in Gujarat and Sindh in Pakistan. It is believed to be one of the oldest forms of printing - perhaps going as far back as the Bronze Age Harappan or Indus Valley Civilization, which was known for its cotton and use of indigo, almost 4000 years ago. The double-sided block-printed Ajrakh fabric is still made in the traditional way using natural dyes.

On PeepulTree, you will find an assortment of Indian textiles from the far corners of India which we have designed as part of our home decor range.  These arts are iconic as they represent centuries-old traditions, and use natural material inspired by the land they come from.

This piece of handmade decor is also a great gift to give!
