A classic slate grey melange that can take you from work to dinner dates effortlessly. This jamdani stole is expertly handwoven on a traditional loom by our master weavers.

A fine muslin textile made of cotton, on which decorative motifs are woven using a hand loom is known as Jamdani. Dating back to almost 2000 years, the Jamdani weaving tradition of Bengal is considered to be one of the most time and labor-intensive forms of hand loom weaving, requiring great skill and dexterity. A world famous fabric, Jamdani is characterised by it's geometric or floral designs.

Jamdani weaving is a style unique to Bengal. The method of weaving closely resembles rich tapestry work in which small shuttles of coloured, gold or silver threads are passed through the warp. Jamdani is extremely time taking as it entails a tedious form of hand looming.

Traditionally woven around modern day Dhaka, an early reference to Indian origins of muslin is found in the book of Periplus of the Erythraean Sea(map available on Peepul Tree) and in the accounts of Arab, Chinese and Italian travelers and traders.
