description
A subtle herringbone weave in a classic monochrome makes this Kala Cotton fabric a classic choice. Enjoy this organic and handwoven fabric with a beautiful texture all year round.
Kala cotton, as locally called, is a purely organic crop and grows naturally even in the arid regions of Kutch.
Also known as ‘old cotton’, Kala cotton is a medium-staple length cotton that was a part of India’s cotton export to Great Britain during the colonial period.
Kutch Craft Collective is a collaborative platform of 5 organizations from Kutch and was formed to revive the old crafts of Kutch, while creating livelihood opportunities for the artisan families.
With an aim to promote locally grown cotton and help marginalized communities, Kala Raksha, a not-for-profit organization works with the weavers of Kutch to revive Kala cotton weaving. Peepul Tree is proud to showcase such sustainable products made by the artisans of Kutch.
