From the deserts of Kutch in Gujarat, comes an exquisite form of art known as the Kutchi Embroidery. For centuries, artisans from the local rural community have been involved in using Kutchi embroidery to make various items such as bags, jackets, footwear and even jewellery. This beautiful handbag has been handmade by the skillful hands of women of the Pathan community in Kutch. This style of Kutchi embroidery is called Neran embroidery, which is known for its small stitches and extensive use of mirrors.
Kutch Craft Collective is a collaborative platform of 5 organizations from Kutch and was formed to revive the old crafts of Kutch, while creating livelihood opportunities for the artisan families. Amongst the 5 organizations of KCC, Qasab Kutch Craftswomen Producer Co. Ltd. is an artisanal cooperative of more than 1500 artisans from across 11 ethnic communities settled in Kutch.
