description
Legends come alive in this Pattachitra from Odisha! Painted by renowned Pattachitra artist Niranjan Moharana, this piece marvellously depicts a scene from the Raasleela, where Lord Krishna is with Radha in the centre and is surrounded by a framework of the Dashavatara, or ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
Made up of two words: ‘Patta’ meaning cloth and ‘Chitra’ meaning image, Pattachitra is an art form that emerged from Puri (Odisha) where images of the deities and their chronicles are painted on a piece of cloth or palm leaves.
