This beautiful Pichwai painting of Shrinathji or Lord Krishna, the chief deity of Pushtimarg sect of Nathdwara, Rajasthan, is painted by celebrated Pichwai artist Sushil Soni. It depicts Lord Krishna standing on a pedestal, surrounded by Lotus motifs in a lake in the background.

Originating in Nathdwara, Rajasthan approximately five centuries ago, Pichwai paintings function as the picturesque backdrop for Lord Krishna, enshrined within Pushtimarg temples. The name Pichwai is derived from the Sanskrit words 'pich' meaning 'back' and 'wai' meaning 'hanging,' alluding to these lively painted wall hangings. These artworks vividly depict stories from Krishna's life and are replete with spiritual meaning.
