Sarnath: The Birthplace of Buddhism

Sarnath, the birthplace of Buddhism, is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world and famous as the place where Gautama Buddha delivered his first sermon. It remained a place of pilgrimage and housed monasteries for monks, scholars and travellers for nearly 1,500 years - from the time of the Buddha to the end of the 12th century CE. Join us, as we take you on a tour of this magnificent site with senior Archaeologist and Former Additional Director General of ASI, Dr. B. R. Mani.
