Hoysala Temples: A Virtual Tour

The Hoysalas ruled most of present-day Karnataka, and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, between the 11th and 14th century CE. Patrons of art and literature, and prolific builders, they are said to have built more than 1,500 temples all across their empire, of which only 100-odd survive.

These exquisite temples are considered masterpieces of South Asian art and exhibit extreme skill and finesse.

Join us with Author and Urban Conservationist, Kamalika Bose, as we explore the legacy of the rulers who built these temples, their stunning art, architecture and iconography, and how they are an important part of temple evolution in India.
