Cambodia’s Early Interaction with India

The Angkor Wat Temple in Cambodia, famous for its spectacular Hindu imagery and architecture, attracts visitors from around the world. But few realise that India’s connection with Cambodia goes far back in time. Starting in the 3rd CE, there is evidence of active travel between the Indian subcontinent and South-East Asia, across the Bay of Bengal. By the 5th CE, Indic gods and the legends associated with them also began to travel. In this special - ‘Cambodia’s Early Interactions With India’ – Architectural Historian Swati Chemburkar traces the journey of ideas and faiths, and tells us how they shaped Cambodia.
