The craftsmen known as 'Kalamkaris' print patterns with vegetable dyes on cotton using blocks, mainly bearing designs of Persian motifs. The old port town of Machilipatnam has its own unique, block printing style of Kalamkari, influenced by history. The most used colours here are Blue, Red and Black.
