Taking a stroll along the Great Rann of Kutch, amidst the white sands, one is bound to get mesmerized by the beautifully decorated mud houses or Bhungas as they are called. These houses are decorated with mud and mirror work, which is locally known as Lippan Kaam.

Local Mud from the Rann of Kutch is mixed with camel dung which further gets broken down into small pieces and decorative framework is created out of it. Different shapes of mirrors are then placed in these frameworks to create an artwork which is distinctive and striking.

The pastoral Rabaris, the Kumbhars and Matwa communities are engaged in Kutchi mud art and this mirrorwork mud art beautifully portrays their rich tradition.
